Our Peat Installation Process<\/h3><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The difference between peat that roots well and peat that is problematic is almost always the preparation of the soil. This is how we work at Am\u00e9nagement DDL, step by step. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

1. Valuation of the land<\/h4>

  1. We analyze your soil in detail: its composition, its level, its compaction zones and its drainage problems. Clay soil, as is often found in Laval, requires a different approach to sandy soil, such as in certain areas of the North Shore or the Laurentians. We adapt our method to your specific reality. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

    2. Soil preparation<\/h4>

    Debris, stones, old roots and weeds are removed. The soil is loosened to the right depth, usually between 10 and 15 cm, to allow the roots to penetrate easily. If the soil is too poor, it is amended with quality topsoil or compost.     1. We source fresh peat, grown in Quebec and adapted to our climate. Recently harvested peat that hasn't been stored for too long roots much faster and gives better long-term results. We choose our suppliers for the quality and freshness of their product. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

      4. Careful installation<\/h4>

      The sod is laid in staggered rows, like bricks, to avoid aligned joints that create visible lines and weak spots. Each roller is snug against the previous one to eliminate gaps between sections. We finish with a roller to ensure optimal contact between the peat and the soil underneath. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

      1. Before leaving, we explain how to water your new peat during the first 2 to 3 weeks, which are the most critical period for rooting.         Why soil preparation makes all the difference<\/h2><\/div><\/div>\n\n

        We regularly see homeowners in Laval and on the North Shore who have had sod installed by a company that skipped the preparation steps.
